All cool dudes and chicky babes

What was the only thing missing from the retro-beach party themed Maldivian paradise named Finolhu that channels Blue Hawaii, the Endless Summer and even Gidget all at once?

Surfing.

Of course it was. Finolhu is an island resort that has absolutely everything else to hang loose in style.

In the middle of the UNESCO protected Baa Atoll. Finolhu is the ultimate island experience for chic couples, fun-loving families and gatherings of friends alike. Finolhu’s 125 villas come on the ocean, the lagoon or by the beach, with or without pool in either one or two bedroom options.

Finolhu offers laid-back yet elegant dining options, with the chilled-out 1 OAK Beach Club at its heart. Made for lounging away afternoons, sipping and nibbling from a daybed, 1 OAK is the place to be, day or night.  Other dining choices range from either the all day dining restaurant Baa Baa Beach Diner, to the Fish & Crab Shack, an oasis of rustic chic deliciousness halfway along Finolhu’s stunning 1.8km sandbank, or the star dining venue Kanusan that spans three areas: a vibrant overwater bar area; a relaxed indoor space and an al fresco lower deck for a theatricality of Asian spirit. The boutique-style Baahaa Grill restaurant will celebrate the legendary spice blends of pre-Moorish North Africa, while Finolhu’s old-school tuck shop, Milk Bar treats holiday makers with a range of guilt-free wraps, smoothies, and ice creams or amazing coffees.

And of course, in Baa Atoll, Maldives, the summer months of May to November mean only one thing; Manta Ray season. This is when Reef Manta Rays migrate in their hundreds to feed in the atoll’s plankton-rich waters – offering unrivalled viewing opportunities for anyone lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. For power junkies and action seekers, Thunderball is home to a variety of beach games adrenalin-fuelled water sports including Jet Skis, RS Sailing, Paddleboards, X-Jetpacks and Seabobs; and a fleet of private charter vessels for guests to explore the archipelago.

Now the clever dudes at Finolhu have introduced surf charters. Of course they have.

There’s no aggro battling grommets for the perfect wave. The waves near Finolhu are located approximately 15 to 30 kilometers south-southwest of the Dharavandhoo Domestic Airport in Baa Atoll. With only one inhabited island in the area, these breaks sure are far off the beaten track and a there’s a lot of ocean to play in.

Der, conditions have to be right and the best time to surf the Baa Atoll is during the South-West Monsoon season, from April to October, with the May-August period being the peak wave season.

Prices are USD 450 ++ for 1 ½ hours, USD 700 ++ for 2 ½ hours and USD 275++ for each additional hour for private individual surf charters. If there are guests looking to go on a shared surf trip, we can split the price amongst all guests looking to go on the surf trip, depending on the number of guests.

So shimmy on over to Finolhu for the best beach holiday in the world.
