Returning for its second year, the Baa Atoll Summer Festival is again bringing 12 of the atoll’s island resorts together for a celebration of their diverse culinary offering. From the 8th to 21st July 2019, you’ll have the unique opportunity to hop between each of the idyllic islands, discovering the culinary scene of this atoll each step of the way.
Amilla Fushi, Anantara Kihavah, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, Dreamland, Dusit Thai and Finolhu are all taking part, along with Four Seasons Landaa, Reethi Beach, Royal Island, Soneva Fushi, The Westin Maldives and finally, Vakkaru Maldives.the festival period, each resort will host its own dinners and events showcasing the best culinary experience it has to offer. Begin with sunset cocktails at each resort on the opening night, before setting off for the other islands as they host special dinners on their designated nights.
Week two will follow with lavish dinners at Southeast Asian dining spot ONU in Vakkaru Maldives and beneath the ocean’s surface at Sea underwater restaurant of Anantara Kihavah Maldives, among other featured nights. A special full moon event will be hosted by every resort on the night of July 16th.
Hopping between the islands at this time won’t be a problem. Complimentary island transfers will be offered by each of the resorts on their featured night, with special arrangements, such as repeat visits to one particular island, open to request.
While the festival focuses primarily on the atoll’s culinary scene, many more activities and events fill the two-week calendar, from beach activities and conservation events to waters sports and, for the first time this year, an inter-resort beach volleyball tournament and full moon Island clean-up day.
The last night of the festival takes place on the 21st, but the event will in fact come to a close on July 22nd with a closing ceremony bringing all 12 resorts together on a sandbank at the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here you can expect a beach party, the inter-resort volleyball tournament final and, one of the highlights of the festival, the Baa Atoll Catamaran Regatta. Take part in the race or watch from the deck of your resort’s yacht.
Choosing which of the 12 participating resorts to stay at could be your biggest challenge. Narrow down the options by choosing one that fits your travel style, from retro-chic Finolhu and barefoot luxury long-time favourite Soneva Fushi to the wellbeing-focused Westin Maldives.
